Green India – Healthy India
Just imagine each tribal village in India having garden with thousands of fruit bearing trees. We need your support in people's real initiative of Green and Healthy India . Plantation of fruit bearing trees will not only have biodiversity which will  address environmental problem but it will also help tribal people fight malnourishment. Tribal will get enough fruits to eat and surplus can be sold. But for developing a nursery at few villages, which will require a investment of 2,00,000 Rupees to buy plastic bags, seeds etc, labour will be on volunteer basis. You may also provide us with empty plastic bags of 1 kg of; milk; popcorn, packet used at malls etc. Pl respond soon.
Shramik Adivasi sangathan in Betul district has already launched a people's initiative to address environmental and livelihood issue of tribals. Tribal has been clearing common land, be it forest or revenue, of all the weeds like Lantana and, planting saplings of fruit bearing trees. For example at Umbbardoh and Chonnahajoori village each, 300 tribal people have worked for 100 days on 500 acres of land, this comes to around 40 lakh rupees of labour at each of this place. They have planted total around 40 thousand saplings of fruit bearing trees, digging well to water these plants, developing a nursery to plant grown up saplings in the coming monsoon. By the time the land in these two villages is fully developed it will have around one lakh trees of fruit bearing trees.
Just to note that social forestry scheme of forest department is great failure and Nadanvan scheme launched on revenue land has also not yielded any results. Yet the forest department of Betul has responded by twice putting all the huts at Umbardoh on fire, and destroying the well dug up by tribal.  Thousands of saplings have also been up rooted at both the places. Conservator of forest Betul said horticulture is not permitted on the forest land and, filed cases against tribals under Indian forest act and, they have been arrested.
.
.
MOEF has launched an ambitious Green India Mission; in 10 years  40 thousand coroers rupees will be spent on it; 10 million hectare to be covered; 5 million hectare under plantation; 5 million hectare under regeneration. Under this commercial spices like teak will be planted. This will include scheme like carbon sink.  MNCs are going to have foster ownership over vast field of land under carbon sink project.
This scheme will neither address environmental problem, nor malnutrition, which on the rise among Adivasis. For example in Betul district of MP   as on 30th June 2011 out of 1,42124 total children under the age of 5 years 30195 have been found  malnourished by government's  own figure. None of the government supplementary food system and other support schemes could address this issue. Similarly despite spending huge amount none of the social forestry project has been success, it neither could address environmental issue nor does tribal's livelihood issue.
On 8th December we have organised a overnight program; dance, meeting, tribal rituals at Umbardoh to make iy  a big awareness campaign in Betul and Hard   A
a dist. Umbardoh can be reached from  Harda and Betul it is just 75 kilometers by road from both the places. You all are welcomed.
