USA Africa Dialogue Series - Prof. Ken Harrow

hi pius
i read funmi's piece quickly; didn't think much about it. someone who is
glossing baraka as was done in the article is skimming over surfaces. i
read it as a piece of light journalism, nothing more.

Dear Prof. Harrow:

The article posted depicted all the lies as narrated by Chris Abani to his friends in California.

Kindly, go back and read the article again.  Light journalism?  No!

Prof. Harrow: Below is an extract from the article:

"In Nigeria, Abani was again incarcerated for his writing. This time, he spent a year in Kiri-Kiri maximum-security prison, so-called Kalakuta Republic. There, Abani was tortured extensively and routinely, episodes he describes in Kalakuta Republic. He was released, but returned to Kiri-Kiri after he wrote a play condemning the Nigerian government. He was placed on death row and spent six months in solitary confinement."
