Re: [भारत-चिँतन:8701] Soni Sori Case

What a big gratis to Sori from the SC!
Raipur jail is also in CG.

Human rights, a lady's honour, her right to life etc can wait for weeks.
But Tata's Singur case can't wait even for a day.

That is why justice 'Krishna Iyer told the upper judiciary judges, ' You can't render proper justice to the poor because you are all from a different class''.

PTI | 07:12 PM,Dec 02,2011

"torture" New Delhi, Dec 2 (PTI) The Supreme Court today directed Chhattisgarh government to file an affidavit on allegations that pebbles were thrust into the private parts of alleged Maoist activist Soni Sori during police torture and asked the state to shift her from a jail in Dantewada to Raipur Central prison. "He has to answer. There are very serious allegations," a bench of justices Altamas Kabir and S S Nijjar said while referring to the affidavit of Sori that the alleged torture was perpetrated at the behest of Dantewada SP Amit Garg. The apex court passed the direction after examining the recovered foreign object and the medical report placed before it by a special team of NRS Medical College and Hospital, Kolkota. Chhattisgarh government counsel Atul Jha was also asked by the apex court to file its response on the plea for shifting the case outside the state and also a probe by a special investigation team as sought by counsel Colin Gonzalves appearing for Sori. The apex court further directed that the jail authorities shall provide Sori access to her lawyer while her relatives and others can meet the woman after moving the required application before the jail authorities. A suspected Maoist conduit, Sori has been accused by the police of receiving "protection money" from the Essar group. She was arrested on October 4 in south Delhi by a Chhattisgarh police team and was taken to Dantewada for interrogation. Essar has denied giving funds to Maoists.
